Pfiew, visiting Cairo, the Pyramids and the GEM, what a trip!
From the moment I set foot in the museum, I was speechless and overwhelmed by the immense hall. An experience unlike any other.
Sure you have the Louvre in Paris or Uffize in Firenze but The Grand Egyptian goes beyond them and my imagination.
It’s like stepping into a time machine and travelling back in time 7000 years.
That’s how old some of the artifacts are.
To put everything into perspective.
Life has existed on Earth for 3,4 billion years, and the human species has been around for no longer than 250.000 years.
But a civilisation that has lasted 7000 years remains unique.
The first stone was laid in 2002.
But it was not until 2005 that work really got underway.
And in 2025, the museum opened its doors to the general public, 20 years later, but well worth the wait.
If it’s on your bucket list, GO!
