North of Lisbon, and since 1996 a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Porto is the second largest city of Portugal.
Perched on the hillside along the River Douro, it is a charming city full of character.
Exploring the historic centre on foot is a challenge for your calves.
But the many steep steps and narrow alleyways also force you to slow down, which adds to the charm.
Porto is inseparably linked to port wine.
Something we enjoyed it regularly whilst we were there.
Did we visit a Port cellar?
Of course we did.
Just as we also visited the Cathedral, Palácio da bolsa with a beautiful Arab room, São Bento station, Church of Saint Francis and many more.
