Under one hour, this was our shortest drive in Namibia, from Wolwedans to Little Kulala next to Sossusvlei.
We picked this location because it has is own gated access to Sossusvlei, Dead vlei and Dune 45.
In banthu language ‘kulala’ means ‘to sleep’ and that’s exactly what we had. A good night of sleep.

We decided to skip the morning rush, although it’s the preferred time of the day to shoot some pictures, and visit Sossusvlei at dusk.
Turned out to be a good decision.
Not too many people around, light was perfect and the occasional clouds slowly drifting by casting subtle clouds on the dunes surrounding us.
I never imagined that such dry & sandy environment with a couple of petrified trees could be so impressive.
And also here you can hear a feather gently stroking the earth, that’s how peaceful it is here.

Leaving Sossusvlei behind us we rushed to Dune 45 to enjoy the sunset.
Arriving at the foothill we saw another 10 or so like-minded souls with prime camera’s. Slowly the sun started to paint the dunes scarlet red.
Minute by minute the color temperature is changing and so does the color of the dunes. Magnificent!
