NAMIBIA – Wolwedans #1

While driving to Wolvedans, our next campsite, the landscape started to change. Slowly we started to see red coloured crumbled hills and variation in vegetation. Also gone the fenced thar road and welcome dirt road! My personal favourite. Driving down the Tsaris pass we stopped just after Zaris on the D827 to get a better impression of the desolate area.
Once we stepped out of the car it felt like we were standing in a hot-air oven. Dusty and heavy warm wind blowing in our faces but nearly no sound. In the distance we saw some blown-by-the-wind bushes hunting each other. The only thing missing here was some music from Ennio Morricone.

One hour later we arrived at the gates of heaven.
From this point it’s about a 25mins drive to the main lodge.
Here we were warmly welcomed by one of the staff.
We immediately were assigned a private guide/driver for the duration of our stay. Philip, a very nice guy who immediately helped us transfer our luggage into his Land rover. We had no time to waste because we needed to leave at 17h30 to enjoy an enchanting sundowner in the dunes.

All the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow (and silence)

Leo Tolstoy

Tolstoy is right.
Light and shadow are a beautiful match. And Wolwedans added that extra dimension of silence. (that’s why i tweaked the quote)
The lodge location is remote. Everywhere you look you’re surrounded by spectacular dune views. Somehow it felt like you’re no longer on this planet, but somewhere else.
