After weeks of semi-lockdown you start longing to escape. If only for a weekend with the kids, nature and some culture.
Brain food modus: ‘ON’
Family time: ‘CHECK’
Escape to nature: ‘STARTED’
But before we explore the woods of Viroinval a culture stop at the ‘Musée de La Photography’ in Charleroi is planned. What did you expect from a ‘photo addict’ ?
We stayed the weekend at FOREST-CUBE.
An ecolodge in the middle of trees where you can breathe naturally.
The cubes are nearly energy passive with straw insulation, heat pump and heat-recovery ventilation. We like!
Not even 10 mins down the road in Oignies-En-Thiérache you have a local butcher ‘“Janvier” with one of the best “wild paté’s” i have ever tasted.
Next door is a bakery, so you know what your first Sunday morning stop will be ;-)
Walking around in the neighbourhood is not difficult at all. Hikes can differ from easy to a bit more rough terrain. The biggest challenge however is where to start, because the options are unlimited.
We chose to have a look at ‘Fondry des chiens’. The Belgium Grand Canyon!
Maybe not as impressive as the US one, but the view and surroundings are magnificent.
While we enjoyed the views a couple of musicians had a photoshoot for their new album. Dressed in rose-gold coats they blended very well with the canyon.
