Manrique's place
Lanzarote
It’s like you take a flight to the moon.
Big chunks of the island look similar to a lunar landscape
The contrast between lava and shiny white make it worth a visit.
It is also the island of
César Manrique.
A painter, artist, architect and environmental activist.
Thanks to him the island kept his identity. He had a major influence on the planning regulations. ie. no billboards and no buildings are higher than 3 stories.
As a result the views are stunning, buildings and nature live in harmony. This makes it a peaceful place to stay. Not as other islands where you would find their coastlines disturbed by skyscrapers.
” When I returned from New York, I came with the intention of turning my native island into one of the more beautiful places in the planet, due to the endless possibilities that Lanzarote had to offer. “
