NAMIBIA – Kalahari

First morning in Namibia after an eventful flight.
Our first flight got delayed by thunderstorms, a thorough check before the connection flight by the German customs resulting in a defective 400mm lens and to top it all off, only 1 suitcase arrived in Windhoek.

Sunriset at Habitas Nature reserve

Fortunately, we had all our luggage mixed and divided over our 2 suitcases, so it wasn’t too much of a problem. And because every piece of luggage got air tagged we could see it was still at Frankfurt airport. Deutsche Gründlichkeit? Yeah right.
Waking up in Habitas while enjoying the sunrise from our Savanna room terras made us quickly forget our night flight.

We were actually super spoiled. When we arrived 2 guest were leaving the place and that left us being the only ones on a 51000 hectares nature reserve in the Kalahari desert! This made our sunset drive and complementary Gin & Tonic a kind of an intimate experience. Just the both of us and the driver.

Early morning rides are the best. Not only for wildlife spotting but also for the cooler temperatures.
One of our first encounters was with a family of lions who were peacefully enjoying their breakfast. With their belly stuffed with meat the only moving body part were their eye lids.
