Nowadays, Andrea Roggi’s bronze sculptures can be seen popping up all over Puglia. And in Martina Franca, his works are present in abundance. Turns out we would see more of his works in Locorotondo and Cisternino.
We first saw his work in a gallery in Moltepulciano in 2017. Often, it is an organic globe with an olive tree or tree of life on top, inspired by nature, letting olive branches grow out of love.
The tree trunks are human figures, entwined in an intimate embrace. Their arms raised towards the sky grow into magnificent olive tree branches, while their roots reach deep into the earth.
Andrea Roggi was born in 1962 in Castiglion Fiorintino, Tuscany. His works are mostly made of bronze, but he has gradually started working with white marble as well.
He embraces what many adults have forgotten or no longer allow themselves to do: be inspired by the wonderful imagination that children have. Dream!

Martina Franca is a pleasant town, illuminated by its many white buildings and the sun of course.
It is not only Roggi’s artworks that brighten up the city, but also the colourful clothes hanging out to dry in the sun and works of art by young local artists. Or flowers, or a simple blue basket…

A stone’s throw away is Locorontondo, another white and cosy town.
The historical old town has a circular street plan. Just before the entrance to the old town, there is a pleasant little park with a beautiful view of the hilly landscape. It is the perfect place to enjoy a slice of pizza and a refreshing drink from a local bakery.
And there, too, are sculptures by Andrea Roggi.
