Rock engravings<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Leaving the Erongo mountains behind us we’re heading for Twyfelfontein today. Since it’s on our way to Damaraland we thought it would be a good idea to include it on our list.

Twyfelfontein is the first UNESCO site in Namibia known for thousands of rock petroglyphs. Some of them might be as old as 10000 years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hike in the protected area is done with a guide. But when we asked to visit the ‘fountain’ or spring, which meant a longer walk, we were given directions and allowed to go out on our own. Probably because it was so hot and she didn’t feel like sweating for an extra hour.
Walking around the area we also noticed an intriguing rock formation. If you look at it from a certain angle it looks like a Lion’s mouth looking over the Huab valley. No roaring sound to be heard, only the peaceful whistling of a few birds in the distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 2 hours walking around in the killing sun we decided to continue our road to Damaraland. It was going to be an exiting drive!
As already said before, gravel roads are the majority here and asphalt roads are rare. Only 13 km left to arrive at our destination the car, at a speed of 90km\/hr, suddenly started to behave differently. Which made me to slow down and inspect the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
